Nifty, Sensex start the day sharply in red amidst market-wide selling; Bharti Airtel shares down by more than 3%

Indian equity markets have started the day today, sharply in red. At 9:30 a.m. 7th November, 2025, Nifty 50 is down by 176.35 points or 0.69%. Sensex is down by 585.79 points or 0.70%. Indian markets started the day today on negative cues from foreign markets. Asian equity markets are also in red today. US and European markets closed sharply in red yesterday.
Just 6 of the 50 stocks that make up Nifty 50 are in green at this time. Top three gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are Sun Pharma, Eternal and Max Health. Top three losers at Nifty 50 at this time are Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech and TCS.
Bharti Airtel shares down by more than 3% after block deal
Bharti Airtel shares are down by 3.82% at this time. A block deal worth Rs 10,300 crore has, reportedly, taken place in the stock today. Singapore Telecommunications Ltd has sold its 0.8% stake in the company through this block deal. This is causing its share price to go down today.
Small cap stocks seeing heavy selling pressure
All the broad market indices are in red at this time. Small cap stocks are seeing heaviest selling pressure. Nifty Smallcap 50 index is down by 1.27% at this time. All the sectoral indices are also in red at this time. Nifty Consumer Durables index is the top loser among sectoral indices at this time. It is down by 1.76%. This is mainly because of the decline in Titan’s stock price. Titan’s shares are down by 0.60%. Nifty Realty index is down by 1.45%.
Market breadth extremely negative; advance-to-decline ratio of 0.26
Market breadth is extremely negative at this time. At NSE, 552 stocks are gaining at this time. 2120 stocks are declining. This is an advance-to-decline ratio of just 0.26. This shows the heavy selling pressure than Indian equity markets are seeing today. 19 stocks have touched 52-week high at NSE by this time. 124 stocks have touched 52-week low.
