New Delhi, October 15: The number of dispatches that manufacturers made to dealers of passenger vehicles in September 2025 was 3,72,458 units, marking the highest-ever sales of passenger vehicles by all manufacturers in September 2025, as data issued by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) showed.

Robust Growth Across Vehicle Classes

Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles rose 4.4 per cent from 356,752 units in September 2024, driven by steady demand and the early stage of the festive season.

Sales of two-wheelers climbed 7% to 2,160,889 units from 2,025,993 previously. Conversely, Three-wheeler deliveries rose 5.5% to 84,077 units from 79,683 units last month.

Despite the implementation of revised GST rates from September 22—affecting only nine days of the month—SIAM noted that all major segments logged their highest-ever September sales.

Quarterly Performance

In the polycarbonate case for the July–September quarter (Q2 FY26), passenger vehicle sales were 10,39,200 units, a decrease of 1.5% from 10,55,137 units for the same period last financial year.

Two-wheeler volumes grew 7% year-on-year to 55,62,077 units, whereas three-wheeler shipments gained 10% to 2,29,239 units during the quarter.

Industry Outlook

SIAM President Shailesh Chandra described the new GST 2.0 reform as a “landmark decision” that will strengthen the auto sector’s ecosystem and enhance economic vibrancy through deeper linkages with allied industries.

He added that the outlook for the sector remains encouraging, supported by festive season momentum, stable macroeconomic indicators, and improved affordability under the new GST framework.

While the industry continues to monitor global developments, SIAM said it expects the sector to end FY26 on a positive growth trajectory, driven by healthy consumer sentiment and policy support.
