Petrol, Diesel Prices Today, August 24, 2026: Check Rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Other Cities

Mumbai, August 24: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely steady across cities on Monday. Petrol prices were unchanged in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Chandigarh. Diesel prices also remained largely stable. 

Oil prices fell on Monday as investors booked profits following a sharp rally and awaited details of new US sanctions against Iran. Brent crude futures fell 1.4% to $93 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude declined 1.6% to $85.7 a barrel. 

The decline came after crude prices gained more than 5% last week.  

The Strait of Hormuz remains in focus as ship traffic through the strategic waterway has fallen sharply.  

Middle Eastern exports have fallen back towards earlier lows and China could face pressure from the new sanctions with Reuters reporting that Iranian oil shipments to China have already declined sharply. 

Petrol Prices 

Petrol prices remained largely stable, with New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai reporting no change. Petrol was priced at ₹102.12 per litre in New Delhi, ₹111.21 in Mumbai and ₹107.76 in Chennai, according to Goodreturns. 

Prices also remained unchanged in Gurgaon, Bangalore and Chandigarh. Petrol was ₹102.97 per litre in Gurgaon, ₹111.68 in Bangalore and ₹101.54 in Chandigarh. 

Hyderabad continued to have the highest petrol price, followed by Jaipur.  

Jaipur was the only city in the list to report a change. Rates in the other seven cities remained unchanged.  

Diesel Prices 

Diesel prices remained largely unchanged, with New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai reporting no movements. Diesel was ₹95.20 per litre in New Delhi, ₹99.82 in Kolkata, ₹97.83 in Mumbai and ₹99.55 in Chennai. 

Rates were also steady in Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Lucknow. Diesel was available at ₹95.64 per litre in Gurgaon, ₹99.56 in Bangalore, ₹89.47 in Chandigarh, ₹103.82 in Hyderabad and ₹95.36 in Lucknow. 

Hyderabad recorded the highest diesel price at ₹103.82 per litre, followed by Bhubaneswar at ₹102.28 and Thiruvananthapuram at ₹102.42. Bhubaneswar saw the sharpest increase while Noida reported a smaller increase. 

Thiruvananthapuram saw the steepest decline. Jaipur and Patna also recorded cuts. Overall, diesel prices remained stable in most major markets.
