Petrol, Diesel Prices Today, August 3: Check Fuel Rates In Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru And Other Cities 

Mumbai, August 3: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely unchanged across several major Indian cities on Monday, although consumers in some cities saw minor revisions in fuel rates. Petrol prices were steady in New Delhi, Kolkata, Gurgaon and Bengaluru, while diesel rates also remained unchanged in key markets including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. However, prices moved in cities such as Noida, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.  

Crude oil prices slumped on Monday. Brent crude futures slid 5% to around $83.6 a barrel while WTI crude fell 5.7% to around $80 per barrel. 

This comes after US President Donald Trump said talks with Iran were set to take place, raising hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough and a possible easing of tensions in West Asia. 

The sharp decline came as markets responded to the prospect of progress towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resolving disputes over Iran’s nuclear programme. The waterway is a critical route for global energy supplies, and any disruption to traffic through the strait has been a major source of concern for oil markets in recent months. 

The retreat in crude prices marks a reversal from the recent rally fuelled by geopolitical risks and concerns over potential supply disruptions. Investors are now closely watching developments around the US-Iran talks, with the outcome likely to determine whether the recent fall in oil prices is sustained or proves temporary. 

For oil-importing economies such as India, a sustained decline in crude prices could provide relief by lowering the import bill and easing inflationary pressures. It could also support margins for oil-consuming industries, while reducing pressure on the country’s current account and currency.

Petrol Prices 

Petrol prices remained largely unchanged across major Indian cities, with New Delhi recording the fuel at ₹102.12 per litre and Kolkata at ₹113.51 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol was priced at ₹111.18 per litre, down 3 paise, while Chennai saw a marginal decline of 1 paise to ₹107.76 per litre. 

In the National Capital Region, petrol prices stood at ₹102.97 per litre in Gurgaon, unchanged from the previous reading, while Noida recorded a decline of 23 paise to ₹101.89 per litre. Bangalore’s petrol price remained steady at ₹111.68 per litre, while Bhubaneswar saw an increase of 36 paise to ₹109.33 per litre. 

Among other major cities, Hyderabad recorded petrol at ₹115.69 per litre, down 4 paise, while Jaipur saw a sharp decline of ₹1.28 to ₹112.69 per litre. In Lucknow, prices rose 30 paise to ₹101.86 per litre, while petrol in Patna fell 55 paise to ₹113.37 per litre. 

Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest increase among the listed cities, with petrol prices rising 88 paise to ₹115.49 per litre. Chandigarh remained unchanged at ₹101.54 per litre. 

Diesel Prices 

Diesel prices remained unchanged in several major Indian cities, with New Delhi recording the fuel at ₹95.20 per litre and Kolkata at ₹99.82 per litre. In Mumbai, diesel was priced at ₹97.83 per litre, while Chennai recorded a rate of ₹99.55 per litre, with both cities reporting no change. 

In the National Capital Region, diesel prices stood at ₹95.64 per litre in Gurgaon, unchanged from the previous reading, while Noida saw a decline of 19 paise to ₹95.37 per litre. Bangalore’s diesel price remained steady at ₹99.56 per litre, while Bhubaneswar recorded an increase of 34 paise to ₹101.02 per litre. 

Among other major cities, diesel was priced at ₹103.82 per litre in Hyderabad, while Jaipur saw a sharp decline of ₹1.18 to ₹97.78 per litre. In Lucknow, diesel prices rose 30 paise to ₹95.36 per litre, while Patna recorded a decline of 54 paise to ₹99.36 per litre. 

Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest increase among the listed cities, with diesel prices rising 94 paise to ₹104.40 per litre. Chandigarh continued to have one of the lowest rates at ₹89.47 per litre, with prices unchanged.
