Petrol, Diesel Prices Today, August 4: Check Fuel Rates In Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad And Other Cities 

Mumbai, August 4: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely stable across major Indian cities on Tuesday, with most metro cities recording no change in fuel rates. Petrol prices were unchanged in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, Chandigarh, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram, while marginal changes were recorded in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur and Lucknow. On the diesel front, prices remained steady in most major cities, although Noida and Jaipur saw increases, while Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar recorded declines.  

Oil prices recovered slightly on Tuesday after plunging in the previous session, as concerns over potential disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies persisted amid uncertainty surrounding diplomatic efforts to end the US-Iran war. 

Brent crude futures rose 1.3% to $85 a barrel, after falling 7% on Monday to a three-week low. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was up 0.9% at $81 a barrel, following a more than 5% decline in the previous session. 

The sharp fall in oil prices came after US President Donald Trump said he was holding off on fresh attacks against Iran to allow time for talks aimed at ending the conflict and resolving a dispute over control of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected Trump’s claim that negotiations were underway, saying no talks were taking place and no meetings had been scheduled. 

The Strait of Hormuz remains a key focus for oil markets, with the waterway having carried energy exports equivalent to around 20% of global consumption before the conflict. Shipping activity has also slowed in the region, while several Saudi-flagged supertankers have changed course and are travelling around southern Africa. Concerns over vessel attacks and disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea continue to keep a geopolitical premium embedded in crude prices. 

Analysts said oil prices could remain highly volatile, with any renewed military escalation or attacks on tankers near the Strait of Hormuz potentially triggering a sharp rebound in crude prices. At the same time, signs of genuine diplomatic progress could put further downward pressure on oil as markets price in the possibility of improved energy supplies and a gradual normalisation of shipping routes.

Petrol Prices 

Petrol prices remained unchanged in New Delhi at ₹102.12 per litre and in Gurgaon at ₹102.97. In Mumbai, petrol was priced at ₹111.21 per litre, up 3 paise, while Chennai’s rate stood steady at ₹107.76 per litre. 

Bangalore recorded a decline of 86 paise in petrol prices to ₹110.82 per litre, while Bhubaneswar saw rates fall by 48 paise to ₹108.85. Chandigarh’s petrol price remained unchanged at ₹101.54 per litre. 

In Hyderabad, petrol was retailing at ₹115.69 per litre, while Jaipur saw prices rise by 50 paise to ₹113.19. In Lucknow, petrol prices edged up 3 paise to ₹101.89 per litre, while rates in Patna remained unchanged at ₹113.37. 

Petrol prices were also unchanged in Thiruvananthapuram at ₹115.49 per litre. Overall, fuel prices remained largely stable across major Indian cities, with only a few markets recording notable daily changes. 

Diesel Prices 

Diesel prices remained unchanged in New Delhi at ₹95.20 per litre, while Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai also recorded no change, with rates at ₹99.82, ₹97.83 and ₹99.55 per litre, respectively. In Gurgaon, diesel was priced at ₹95.64 per litre. 

Noida recorded a 19 paise increase in diesel prices to ₹95.56 per litre. In contrast, Bangalore saw rates decline by 79 paise to ₹98.77 per litre, while Bhubaneswar witnessed a 46 paise reduction to ₹100.56 per litre. Diesel prices remained unchanged in Chandigarh at ₹89.47 per litre. 

In Hyderabad, diesel was available at ₹103.82 per litre, unchanged from the previous day. Jaipur recorded a 47 paise increase, taking the diesel price to ₹98.25 per litre, while Lucknow and Patna saw no change, with rates at ₹95.36 and ₹99.36 per litre, respectively. 

Diesel prices also remained unchanged in Thiruvananthapuram at ₹104.40 per litre. Overall, diesel prices were largely stable across major Indian cities, with notable movements recorded in Noida, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar and Jaipur.
