Mumbai, July 24: Petrol and diesel prices today, July 24, remained largely unchanged across major Indian cities. Petrol price in Delhi stood at 102.12 per litre, while Mumbai retailed petrol at 111.21 per litre. Diesel prices were also steady in the two cities at 95.20 and 97.83 per litre, respectively. Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar declined, while Thiruvananthapuram posted the sharpest increase.

Oil prices rose above the $100-a-barrel mark as escalating war in the Middle East heightened concerns over disruptions to crude supplies.

The prospect of prolonged disruptions has increased fears of a tighter global oil market.

The jump in crude prices comes at a time when the markets are already grappling with concerns over inflation and the future path of monetary policy.

The rise in oil prices also weighed on global risk sentiment, contributing to fall in equities. Investors have become increasingly concerned that a prolonged period of elevated crude prices could hurt economic growth.

For India, which gets a large share of its crude oil through imports, a sustained rise in international oil prices could have significant implications. Higher crude costs can widen the trade deficit and pressure the rupee.

Higher fuel and transportation costs can also impact prices across sectors.

Here is a look at the latest petrol and diesel prices across major Indian cities and state capitals.
