Petrol, Diesel Prices Today, September 16, 2026: Check Fuel Rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad

Mumbai, September 16: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely unchanged across major Indian cities and state capitals on Wednesday, September 16, with most markets reporting no daily revision. Petrol was priced at ₹102.12 per litre in Delhi, ₹111.21 in Mumbai and ₹113.51 in Kolkata, while diesel rates stood at ₹95.20 per litre in Delhi, ₹97.83 in Mumbai and ₹99.82 in Kolkata. Jaipur recorded the biggest decline among the listed markets, with petrol prices falling ₹0.53 and diesel rates dropping ₹0.47.  

Oil prices fell on Wednesday after industry data showed an unexpected increase in US crude inventories, offsetting concerns over supply disruptions in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. Brent crude futures fell 1% to $107.6 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined 1.4% to $104.4 a barrel. 

US crude inventories reportedly rose by 7.1 million barrels in the week ended September 11, sharply contrasting with analysts’ expectations for a 1.6-million-barrel draw. Inventories of gasoline and distillates also increased, adding to the downward pressure on oil prices. 

However, supply concerns continued to underpin the market. Saudi Arabia suspended some oil loadings at its Yanbu port after an attack disrupted the country’s East-West pipeline, which has the capacity to transport around 4 million barrels per day, equivalent to about 4% of global oil supply. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the pipeline could resume operations within days, although other estimates have suggested repairs could take considerably longer. 

Oil markets are also monitoring disruptions in Libya, where three oil fields halted operations following local protests. Despite Wednesday’s decline, supply remains tight as geopolitical disruptions continue to affect global flows. The combination of elevated crude prices and uncertainty over the duration of supply disruptions is likely to keep oil markets volatile in the near term.

Petrol Prices 

Petrol prices across major Indian cities and state capitals remained largely unchanged on Wednesday, September 16, with most markets recording no revision from the previous day. In New Delhi, petrol was priced at ₹102.12 per litre, while Kolkata and Mumbai retailed petrol at ₹113.51 and ₹111.21 per litre, respectively. 

Among other major metros, petrol was priced at ₹107.77 per litre in Chennai, ₹111.68 in Bengaluru and ₹116.15 in Hyderabad. Gurgaon recorded a price of ₹102.97 per litre, while Noida stood at ₹101.96. Chandigarh’s petrol price was ₹101.54 per litre. 

Prices also remained steady in Bhubaneswar at ₹108.97 per litre, Lucknow at ₹101.86, Patna at ₹113.37 and Thiruvananthapuram at ₹115.49. Jaipur was the only city in the list to see a notable decline, with petrol prices falling ₹0.53 to ₹112.66 per litre. Chennai recorded a marginal increase of ₹0.01. 

The latest rates show limited day-to-day movement across most major markets, although retail petrol prices continue to vary significantly between cities because of differences in local taxes and other charges. Consumers should check the applicable city-wise rate before refuelling, as prices can differ across states and are subject to local revisions. 

Diesel Prices 

Diesel prices across major Indian metro cities and state capitals remained largely unchanged on Wednesday, September 16, with most locations reporting no revision from the previous day. In New Delhi, diesel was priced at ₹95.20 per litre, while Kolkata and Mumbai recorded rates of ₹99.82 and ₹97.83 per litre, respectively. 

Among other major cities, diesel was retailing at ₹99.55 per litre in Chennai, ₹99.56 in Bengaluru and ₹104.23 in Hyderabad. Gurgaon recorded a diesel price of ₹95.64 per litre, while Noida stood at ₹95.44. Chandigarh had the lowest rate among the listed cities at ₹89.47 per litre. 

Diesel prices were also unchanged in Bhubaneswar at ₹100.68 per litre, Lucknow at ₹95.36, Patna at ₹99.36 and Thiruvananthapuram at ₹104.40. Jaipur was the only city in the list to record a notable change, with diesel prices falling ₹0.47 to ₹97.78 per litre. 

The latest rates indicate limited movement in diesel prices across most major markets, although retail prices continue to differ considerably between cities due to variations in state taxes and other local charges. Consumers should check the latest city-wise rates before refuelling, as prices may vary across states.
