Power Grid shares gained more than 2%, as markets rose in the last 1 hour of trading

Indian equity markets ended the day in green today, 3^rd October, 2025. Markets saw profit booking during most of the day, but then gained quite steeply in the last 1 hour of trading. Nifty 50 ended the day, up by 57.95 points or 0.23%. Sensex ended the day, up by 223.86 points or 0.28%.

Top gainers & losers

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 today were Tata Steel, Power Grid and Hindalco. Top 3 losers were Max Health, Coal India and SBI Life. Tata Steel shares gained after Dutch government announced GBP 2 billion support for Tata Steel’s Dutch subsidiary. This support will be given for transitioning to cleaner energy based furnaces from coal based furnace at one of the company’s Netherland plants.

Power Grid’s shares ended the day, up by 2.85% at Rs 288.65. Max Healthcare shares lost 3.88% today.

Market wide gains seen today

Market wide gains were seen today. All the broad market indices ended the day in green. Nifty Microcap 250 index was the top gainer among sectoral indices. It ended the day, up by 1.32%. Most of the sectoral indices also ended the day in green. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Healthcare index was the top loser today. It ended the day, down by 0.22%. Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom Index was the top gainer among sectoral indices today. It ended the day, up by 1.23%.

Market breadth was extremely positive

Market breadth was extremely positive today. 2140 stocks gained at NSE. 960 stocks declined. 85 stocks remained unchanged. Market volatility also came down today. Nifty VIX index ended the day, down by 2.21%.
