Mumbai, Aug 4: Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX) extended its recent gains into Tuesday’s premarket session, building on a sharp rally logged at Monday’s close as investors positioned ahead of the company’s first quarterly earnings report since going public.
The stock was changing hands at $115.682 in premarket trade as of 5:08 am ET on Tuesday, August 4, up $1.152, or 1.01 per cent, from Monday’s closing price. The move follows an even stronger session on Monday, when SPCX closed at $114.53, up $6.16, or 5.68 per cent, on the day. Bid-ask activity in premarket trade showed buyers at $115.60 for 31 shares against sellers offering at $115.75 for 116 shares, indicating a relatively tight spread as the market gears up for the after-the-bell earnings release. Trading volume approached 997.4 million shares, underscoring the heavy interest surrounding the stock ahead of its debut earnings report.
SPCX, a Nasdaq-listed constituent of the Nasdaq 100, has had a volatile run since its market debut. The stock’s 52-week range spans from a low of $107.01 to a high of $225.64, a level it touched shortly after its blockbuster initial public offering in June. Monday’s rally and Tuesday’s further premarket gains mark a notable, if partial, recovery from levels seen earlier this summer, when the stock had slipped well below its IPO price amid broader volatility in high-growth technology and aerospace names.

The renewed buying interest comes as investors brace for a pivotal week for the company. Tuesday’s earnings report is widely seen as a key test of sentiment, not only for what it reveals about the underlying business but also for how it sets the tone heading into a significant lock-up expiry later this week. Options market activity and elevated volumes in recent sessions suggest traders are positioning for a potentially sharp move once results are released, with implied volatility running well above the stock’s historical average heading into the print.
Analysts covering the stock have offered a wide range of views on where shares could head from here, reflecting the uncertainty around the company’s newer business lines and the scale of insider selling that could follow the upcoming lock-up expiry. Even so, Tuesday’s premarket strength suggests that, for now, buyers are willing to look past that overhang and focus on the earnings print itself, with some traders viewing current levels as an attractive entry point relative to the stock’s post-IPO peak.
For a company that captured enormous investor attention with its June listing, Tuesday’s session will be closely watched as the first real market-moving catalyst since debut-day trading. With the stock still down sharply from its all-time high but up meaningfully from Monday’s open, the coming hours are likely to determine whether the recent bounce has legs or proves to be a brief rally ahead of a turbulent earnings reaction.
First Earnings Report Since IPO Carries Outsized Stakes
Tuesday’s report marks a genuine milestone for SPCX: it is the company’s first-ever quarterly earnings release as a public entity, covering the second quarter of 2026, and is due after the market closes today. Management is scheduled to host an audio-only earnings call at 4:30 pm ET to walk investors through the results.
Several factors make this debut report more consequential than a typical earnings print. It will be the first time investors see audited financials since the company’s record-setting IPO on June 12, when shares were priced at $135 apiece. The stock touched an intraday high of $225.64 shortly after listing but has since fallen roughly 45 to 48 per cent from that peak, leaving it trading below its original IPO price even after recent gains.

The report also triggers the company’s staggered lock-up structure. Two trading days from now, on August 6, as many as 911.5 million insider and employee shares — about 20 per cent of the eligible pool — will become tradable for the first time, meaning Tuesday’s numbers could set the tone for a wave of potential selling pressure later in the week.
This is also the first quarter reported under the company’s new three-segment structure of Space, Connectivity and AI, following the February 2026 integration of xAI and X. Analysts are focused on Starlink subscriber growth, which stood at 10.3 million as of the first quarter, along with the segment’s profitability, and how quickly the AI division — encompassing Grok, orbital data centres and the recently acquired Cursor — is burning capital relative to the revenue it generates. Consensus estimates for earnings per share range widely, from a loss of $1.26 to a profit of $0.33, a spread that reflects just how uncertain Wall Street remains about the pace and scale of the company’s AI-related spending.
