Conclusion

The Sumax Engineering IPO has made a strong start, with the overall subscription climbing to 9.52 times by Day 2. Retail investors are currently showing the strongest appetite at 17.21 times, followed by the NII category at 6.64 times.

The big number to watch now is the QIB response, which was still at 0.00x excluding anchors at the time of the update. With one more day left for bidding, the final subscription figures could look very different.

For investors considering the IPO, the ₹2.42 lakh minimum retail application, NSE SME listing and relatively concentrated investor participation are worth considering alongside the subscription numbers. A heavily subscribed IPO can create excitement, but subscription alone doesn’t tell you whether the issue is fundamentally attractive.
