TATA AutoComp and Skoda Group Forge JV to Manufacture Railway Propulsion Systems in India

New Delhi, July 9, 2025 – In a strategic move, TATA AutoComp and Czech-based Skoda Group announced the formation of a joint venture (JV). Aiming to expand its footprint in the Indian railway and mobility sector, the JV will manufacture railway propulsion systems and components.
With a multi-million euro investment, the venture will support the country’s growing rail infrastructure needs. The joint venture combines both firms’ strengths, offering technological innovation and economic value to the region.
Focus on Railway and Metro Electrification
The newly formed JV will specialize in producing converters, drives, and auxiliary converters for various rail applications, including medium high-speed trains, regional trains, metros, and light rail vehicles. The manufacturing operations will be based in India, ensuring local production and value addition.
Strengthening TATA AutoComp’s Mobility Po
TATA AutoComp, known for its expertise in electric vehicle systems and components, views the partnership as a significant step towards diversifying its product portfolio and strengthening its presence in the railway and metro segment.
“Our collaboration with Skoda Group is set to enhance our footprint in the Indian Railway and Metro sector by enabling the introduction of state-of-the-art electrical propulsion systems and components,” said Arvind Goel, Vice-Chairman, TATA AutoComp.
The company also emphasised its commitment to delivering sustainable and affordable mobility innovations, specifically tailored for India’s rolling stock.
Skoda Brings European Expertise
Skoda Group, a prominent European manufacturer of public transport vehicles and components, brings to the table its advanced technology and proven solutions operating across Europe.
