Tata Steel shares up by more than 3%; Nifty, Sensex start the day in red

Nifty 50 and Sensex have started the day in red, today, 14^th January, 2026. At IST 10:25 a.m. IST,  Nifty 50 is down by 57.50 points or 0.22%. Sensex is down by 218.73 points or 0.26%.

Among broad market indices, Nifty Microcap 250 index is down by 0.47%. Nifty Midcap 100 index is down by 0.23%. Nifty Small cap 50 index is up by 0.18%. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Metal index is the top gainer at this time. It is up by 2.17%. Nifty Oil & Gas index is up by 0.37%. Nifty IT index is the top loser among sectoral indices at this time. It is down by 0.86%.

Top Gainers & Losers

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are Tata Steel, Coal India and NTPC. Top 3 losers are Asian Paint, TCS and Kotak Bank. Tata steel shares are up by 3.46% at this time, trading at Rs 188.88. NTPC shares are up by 2%, trading at Rs 344. ONGC shares are up by 1.89%, trading at Rs 248.30. Oil prices continue to rise upward. This after US President Trump asked Iranian protestors to take over government institutions. US help is coming their way, he added.

At 10:40 a.m. IST, WTI crude is trading at $60.97 per barrel. Brent crude is trading at $65.31 per barrel.
