Titan shares up by more than 4%; Nifty, Sensex start the day in red

Indian equity markets have started the day in red today, 7th January, 2026. At 9:50 a.m. IST, Nifty 50 is down by 63 points or 0.24%. Sensex is down by 207 points or 0.24%. Indian equity markets had declined yesterday too, in spite of positive cues from foreign markets. Many Asian markets touched record highs yesterday.
Some small cap stocks seeing buying gains
Among broad market indices, Nifty 100 index is the top loser at this time. It is down by 0.23%. This means that selling pressure is being seen in many large caps today, at this time. Small cap stocks are seeing some gains at this time. Nifty Small cap 50 is the top gainer at this time, among broad market indices. It is up by 0.46%.
Among sectoral indices, Nifty Consumer Durables index is the top gainer at this time. It is up by 1.53%. This, because of the gains being seen in Titan’s shares at this time. Nifty IT index is also up by 0.70%. Nifty Realty index is the top loser among sectoral indices at this time. It is down by 0.53%. Nifty Auto index is down by 0.53%.

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are Titan, Wipro and Sun Pharma. Top 3 losers are Cipla, TMPV and HDFC Bank. Titan’s shares are up by 4.13% at this time. Titan’s shares are shooting up today after it came out with its December quarter business update after market hours yesterday. Revenues from its consumer business increased year-on-year by 40% in the quarter. Revenues from jewelry business increased year-on-year by 41%.
