Titan’s shares down by more than 1% today

Titan’s share price is down today. At 2:20 p.m. IST 19^th September, 2025, the share price is down by 1.18%, trading at Rs 3,470. Nifty 50 index is down by 0.33% at this time. Titan’s stock has lost 2.79% in the past 5 days. Year-to-date the share has gained 6.67% in 2025. Nifty 50 index is up by 6.72% in this period. So the stock has gained almost the same percentage this year as the Nifty 50 index.

Titan heavily dependent on its gold jewellery business

Around 88% of the revenues of Titan currently come from its jewellery business. The festive Diwali season is just about to begin. Buying of gold jewellery touches its peak in India during the time around Diwali and Dhanteras. The wedding season that will follow Diwali may also keep demand for gold jewellery strong. But the high price of gold may act as a dampener for gold demand this season.  Currently gold prices in India are hovering around Rs 1.12 per 10 gram of 24 carat gold. So Titan may see some headwinds caused by high gold prices in its jewellery business, Tanishq.

Titan stock price has gained around 198% in the past 5 years

One reason why Titan’s stock has shown muted performance this year is the already high P/E ratio at which it is currently trading. Currently, the stock is trading at a P/E ratio of around 80. That makes it one of the most highly valued stocks in India currently. The stock’s price has risen by around 198% in the past 5 years. In the same period Nifty 50 has risen by around 120%. The stock has outperformed the Nifty 50 index by around 78% in this period.
