Mumbai, August 17: Indian equities remained under pressure through Monday’s session, but a handful of stocks managed to buck the trend. Hindalco Industries emerged as the strongest gainer among the stocks shown, while Axis Bank and Tata Steel also posted decent gains.

Market Activity
Hindalco Industries led the gainers, rising 2.18% to ₹1,051.95. Axis Bank and Tata Steel added 1.36% each, while HDFC Life Insurance Company gained 1.33%. Tata Steel and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation also saw strong trading activity, with more than 1.58 crore and 2.51 crore shares changing hands, respectively.
Selling was more pronounced in IT stocks. Infosys fell 2.83% to ₹1,136.10, followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries at 2.54% and HCL Technologies at 2.32%. Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra also declined, keeping pressure on the technology pack.
