Mumbai, August 31: Trading activity was concentrated in a mix of jewellery, telecom, technology and media stocks on Monday, with PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea, GACM Technologies and Zee Entertainment Enterprises among the most actively traded counters on the NSE. While GACM Technologies and Vodafone Idea gained, PC Jeweller and Zee Entertainment traded lower, with Zee extending its recent slide amid concerns over Subhash Chandra’s insolvency case.
PC Jeweller Limited (down 0.37%)
PC Jeweller shares extended their decline for a third straight session on Monday, although the stock has gained 0.4% over the past five trading days. The jewellery retailer recently secured shareholder approval for measures aimed at widening its funding options and strengthening financial flexibility.
Shareholders cleared a proposal to raise the company’s authorised share capital to Rs 1,460 crore, comprising Rs 1,200 crore of equity share capital and Rs 260 crore of preference share capital. The higher capital base gives PC Jeweller greater headroom to raise funds as and when required.
Investors also approved a plan to raise up to Rs 1,000 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). The proposed issue could provide the company with additional institutional capital to fund expansion, meet working-capital needs and support other corporate purposes.
The fundraising plans come as PC Jeweller continues efforts to strengthen its balance sheet and improve operations. Access to fresh capital could provide the retailer with greater financial flexibility as it looks to sustain its recovery and pursue growth opportunities.
Vodafone Idea Limited (up 0.75%)
Vodafone Idea shares rose 0.5% on Monday, snapping a three-session losing streak, after the telecom operator reported signs of stabilisation in its subscriber base, with July marking its strongest monthly addition in more than a year.
According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Vodafone Idea added 2.44 lakh mobile subscribers in July.
The improvement comes after the government provided relief to Vodafone Idea on its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues in December 2025. The company has also been expanding its network, with improving subscriber trends offering an early indication that its efforts to stabilise operations may be gaining traction.
However, Vodafone Idea continues to face significant financial and competitive challenges. Sustaining customer growth, improving network quality and securing adequate funding will remain key to the telecom operator’s longer-term turnaround.
GACM Technologies Limited (up 4.72%)
GACM Technologies shares continued their upward momentum on Monday, extending a sharp recent rally.
Investor attention has also been supported by the company’s foreign institutional ownership. FII holding stood at around 31.22%, according to the report, which is an increase following capital raise, providing an additional point of interest for market participants tracking the stock.
GACM Technologies has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Winfluential Private Limited to develop an AI-powered insurance platform. The mandate, valued at Rs 25 crore, is expected to be executed over 18-24 months and could expand the company’s presence in the artificial intelligence and InsurTech segments.
The combination of strong price momentum, institutional participation and new technology mandate has put GACM Technologies firmly on investors’ radar. However, the sharp rise in the stock also means that execution of the new business initiatives will be closely watched, particularly as the company seeks to translate its technology pipeline into sustainable financial performance.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (down 7.70%)
Zee Entertainment shares fell on Monday, extending their decline to a fourth straight session.
The latest fall follows the NCLT’s approval of a repayment plan submitted by Zee Group founder Subhash Chandra in his personal insolvency case. Under the plan, creditors are set to recover just Rs 6.5 crore against admitted claims of Rs 22,006.57 crore, implying a haircut of nearly 99.97%.
Lenders including Union Bank of India, Canara Bank and LIC Housing Finance have decided to challenge the NCLT’s decision, adding to uncertainty around the matter.
