Trent shares have risen by more than 500% in the past 5 years
Trent shares are trading at 12-month trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 93.89. That is a very high multiple to trade at. That may explain why the company’s shares saw selling this year. In the past 5 years Trent’s shares have gained 525.63%. During the whole of 2023 and in the first 10 months of 2024, the stock was on an upward trend. Since November 2024 the stock has seen some selling. This may have been driven by profit booking. A large degree of this profit booking was done by Foreign Institutional or Portfolio investors (FIIs/ FPIs).
FII holdings in the stock of Trent in December 2024 stood at 21.7%. By September 2025 this had come down to 16.8%. FIIs did heavy selling in Indian stock markets in 2025. This selling happened after US imposed punitive tariffs of 50% on Indian goods. Clearly, Trent shares were part of this heavy selling by foreign investors this year.
