Chennai, July 26, 2025 – VA Tech Wabag Ltd (NSE: WABAG, BSE: 533269) has clinched a prestigious ₹380 crore Design-Build-Operate (DBO) contract from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), under the Karnataka Water Security and Disaster Resilience Program. The World Bank-funded project aims to establish advanced, energy-efficient wastewater treatment infrastructure in Bengaluru.

Project Scope & Timeline

Under the terms of the contract, WABAG will execute the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) featuring:

  • Tertiary Treatment Facilities
  • Biogas Generation Systems
  • Solar Sludge Drying Beds
  • Intermediate Pumping Stations
  • Associated Piping Works

The EPC phase is scheduled to be completed within 30 months, followed by 10 years of Operation and Maintenance (O&M).

Strategic Importance

This project will establish four wastewater treatment plants across Bommanahalli, helping reduce Bengaluru’s dependence on freshwater by enabling industrial reuse of treated water. It further aligns with India’s broader environmental goals, thanks to its biogas-powered operations that enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
