VA Tech WABAG has secured a large order from BWSSB to develop two energy-efficient wastewater treatment facilities in Bengaluru, lifting investor sentiment and the stock.

Mumbai, July 20: VA Tech WABAG Ltd. has secured a large order from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to develop two energy-efficient wastewater treatment facilities in Bengaluru, the company said in an exchange filing.
The contract covers the design, build and operate (DBO) of a 100 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) and a 25 MLD tertiary treatment plant (TTP) at Byramangala, along with a 60 MLD STP at Bellandur.
According to the company, the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) scope includes biogas-based power generation using anaerobic sludge digestion. The treatment plants will employ activated sludge technology integrated with a biological nutrient removal system, while the tertiary treatment facility will use ultrafiltration to produce treated water suitable for distribution to surrounding water bodies.
The EPC portion of the project is scheduled to be completed within 36 months, followed by a seven-year operations and maintenance (O&M) period.
WABAG noted that it had previously executed the first phase of the Bellandur facility and has now been entrusted with the second phase as well. The company said the project is expected to strengthen Bengaluru’s wastewater infrastructure, improve resource recovery, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the city’s long-term water security objectives.
Stock Market Snapshot
WABAG share price advanced after investors reacted positively to the fresh order inflow.
As of 12:00 PM IST on July 20, 2026, the stock was trading at ₹2,068.60, up 3.89% from the previous close. The shares gained in early trade and largely held those gains through the morning, suggesting the market welcomed the addition of another sizeable municipal infrastructure project to the company’s order book.
The positive response also reflects investor confidence in WABAG’s continued ability to secure large public-sector water treatment contracts.
