Adani Green Energy commissioned a cumulative 3.37 GWh battery energy storage system at Khavda, with shares gaining about 1.12% in morning trade.

Mumbai, May 26: Adani Green Energy (AGEL) has commissioned a cumulative 3.37 Gigawatt-hour (GWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Khavda, Gujarat.
The company said the project represents the world’s largest single-location battery energy storage deployment outside China and among the fastest utility-scale battery storage projects executed globally. The latest commissioning includes 1.37 GWh of additional capacity added in March 2026, taking the total operational BESS capacity at the site to 3.37 GWh.
According to company’s exchange disclosure, the project was completed within ten months of commencement of on-site construction. AGEL stated that the development is intended to strengthen grid reliability, support peak-hour power demand and facilitate round-the-clock clean energy supply.
The company also reiterated plans to add more than 10 GWh of battery storage capacity during FY27 and scale total battery storage capacity to 50 GWh over the next five years.
Stock Market Snapshot
Adani Green Energy share price traded higher following the announcement. As of 9:58 a.m. IST on May 26, 2026, the stock was trading at ₹1,426.90, up ₹15.80 or 1.12% from the previous close of ₹1,411.10.
During the session, the stock touched ₹1,432.00 and a low of ₹1,403.20. The Adani Green Energy share price movement came after the company disclosed the commissioning milestone and outlined its battery storage expansion roadmap.
Market participants have increasingly focused on utility-scale energy storage projects as renewable energy penetration rises and grid-balancing requirements expand across India.

Company Background
AGEL is India’s largest renewable energy company and develops, owns and operates utility-scale renewable energy assets spanning solar, wind and hybrid power generation.
The company reported an operational renewable energy portfolio of 19.7 GW, the largest in India. AGEL is also developing the Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat, where it aims to build a 30 GW renewable energy ecosystem by 2029.
According to the media release, the company’s battery storage infrastructure is designed to improve renewable energy dispatchability by storing surplus generation and supplying power during peak demand periods. AGEL stated that the 3.37 GWh BESS can store enough clean energy to power nearly one million homes for an entire day.
Conclusion
The commissioning of the 3.37 GWh BESS marks a significant milestone in Adani Green Energy’s energy storage strategy and expands its role beyond renewable generation into grid-scale energy management.
As per the company’s exchange filing, the project strengthens the operational foundation for future storage expansion while supporting India’s broader clean energy transition objectives. The announcement also underscores AGEL’s intention to scale battery storage infrastructure alongside renewable capacity growth over the coming years.
