Airtel Expands 5G Network Footprint; Adds Over 2,900 New 5G Sites Across North India

Bharti Airtel expanded its 5G network footprint with deployment of more than 2,900 new sites across North India over the past 12 months.

Mumbai, June 10: Bharti Airtel Limited announced the deployment of more than 2,900 new 5G sites across North India over the last 12 months, strengthening network coverage and high-speed connectivity in the region.
The company said the rollout spans 77 districts across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
According to company release, the expansion includes 1,066+ new sites in Punjab, 954+ in Haryana, 276+ in Himachal Pradesh and 619+ in Jammu & Kashmir.
Airtel stated that the upgraded network infrastructure now serves more than 28.6 million customers across urban centres, smaller towns and rural regions.
The telecom operator added that over eight new sites were activated daily during the expansion phase to improve streaming quality, download speeds and digital payment connectivity.

The company said customers across all districts in the covered states would benefit from wider 5G access and improved network reliability.
Airtel noted that the infrastructure expansion is aimed at supporting students, enterprises, government institutions and digital service users in both urban and rural markets.
Anupam Arora, CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel, said rising data demand across northern states has accelerated the need for faster speeds and wider coverage.
The company added that the continued investments reflect its focus on bridging connectivity gaps and supporting regional digital transformation initiatives.
Airtel Continues Nationwide 5G Rollout
Bharti Airtel remains among India’s largest telecom operators and continues to expand its 5G infrastructure across multiple circles.
The company has been increasing investments in spectrum utilisation, fibre connectivity and network densification to support rising mobile data consumption.
Telecom operators have accelerated deployment activity across India as demand for high-speed wireless services, enterprise connectivity and digital applications continues to rise.
