AM Green, a company backed by the founders of Greenko Group, has signed a partnership agreement with the Port of Rotterdam Authority. The partnership is to build a clean or green fuel corridor to link India with Northwestern Europe.

The green fuel corridor will allow both regions to execute annual trade worth 1 million tonnes of green fuels, such as sustainable aviation fuel and green ammonia. The one million tonnes of green fuel is valued at nearly $1 billion.

Under the agreement, AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to connect India’s green hydrogen production clusters with the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest energy gateway. This will be made possible by developing a green energy supply chain between the two regions.

The partnership is being tagged as vital for India to achieve its objectives of the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

AM Green Statement

In its official announcement, AM Green stated that- “AM Green is pushing its ambitious goal to develop 5,000,000 tonnes of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030, equivalent to about 1,000,000 tonnes of Green Hydrogen to meet the rising global demand for green fuels, with initial production starting in Kakinada.”

The company further stated that – “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in establishing a global carbon-free energy ecosystem. It will enable the seamless movement of green molecules and fuels from India to Europe, reinforcing AM Green’s position as a global clean energy transition platform and accelerating industrial decarbonisation globally.”

About Port of Rotterdam

The Port of Rotterdam is considered a major logistics hub for Europe. The port sees the entry of around 13% of Europe’s total energy demand. Its effective infrastructure and geographic location make it a critical place for Europe’s green energy objectives.
