Mumbai, November 25, 2025: Apple is undergoing a rare round of layoffs. The company is eliminating dozens of roles across its global sales organisation. The elimination is one as the company is preparing to streamline how it serves its clients. The move has been communicated to affected employees over the past couple of weeks. It marks one of the most significant restructuring efforts within the company’s sales operations in recent years.

Reason for the Move

The company has communicated internally that the reshuffling is an effort to eliminate overlapping roles. Through this, the company is aiming to create a more efficient sales structure. However, a few employees who have been affected by the move have indicated that the company is trying to move more of its enterprise and institutional sales toward third-party resellers. This is being done because the move will help the company in reducing its internal cost burden.

Timing of the Move

The time of layoffs is notable as the company has been experiencing strong financial results. In the future, the company is expected to generate nearly USD 140 billion in revenue during the December quarter. The company is also developing a new entry-level laptop. It is scheduled for early next year. The laptop is expected to help the company expand its reach in the business and education segments.

The layoffs by Apple come amid the overall tech industry is undergoing a downsizing. Amazon recently announced that it is planning to eliminate more than 14,000 roles. Whereas Meta has already cut several hundred positions within its AI division. Apple’s job cuts are limited compared to those of these tech giants.

Teams Affected

The layoffs have affected the business, education and government-focused teams. Within these teams, the layoffs have targeted account managers. These managers have been handling major institutions. The layoffs have also impacted staff who were running Apple’s briefing centres. These were generally in large clients who typically receive product demonstrations. It is anticipated that some teams are getting hit harder than others. However, the total number of roles involved in the layoffs has not been disclosed yet.
