US equity markets ended on a mixed note yesterday, 8th January, 2026. Nasdaq ended the day, down  by 104.26 points or 0.44%. Nvidia’s shares fell by more than 2%. Dow Jones ended the day, up by 270.03 points or 0.55%. S&P 500 ended the day, up by 0.53 points or 0.0077%.

US trade deficit fell in October

America’s trade deficit came down to $29.4 billion in October. This is the lowest level of monthly trade deficit since 2009. Meanwhile, a bill has been presented before the US Senate that will restrict US President from doing military raids like that on Venezuela without the approval of the  Congress. 5 Republican Senators are also supporting this bill.

European markets ended yesterday on a flat note

Euro Stoxx 50 ended the day, yesterday, down by 19.25 points or 0.32%. Dax ended the day, up by 5.20 points or 0.021%. FTSE 100 ended the day, down by 3.52 points or 0.035%.

Asian markets start the day today on a positive note

Nikkei is up sharply today. At 9 a.m. IST 9th January, 2026, it is up by 575 points or 1.13%. Hang Seng is down by 0.50 points or 0.0019%. Kospi is up by 35.30 points or 0.78%. Shanghai Composite is up by 12.35 points or 0.30%.

Indian equity markets may see some buying at lower levels, today

Indian equity markets may see some buying at lower levels today. Nifty 50 has fallen by around 1.75% in  the past 5 days. Markets remain anxious about the outcome of ongoing trade deal negotiations between India and United States.
