Mumbai, 19 June 2025: Ather Energy, a prominent name in India’s electric two-wheeler market, has unveiled plans to significantly increase its retail presence by nearly doubling its current network. By the end of FY26, the company aims to operate 700 Experience Centres (ECs) nationwide.

This move comes in response to the overwhelming success of the Ather Rizta-its first scooter designed for families, which has notably broadened Ather’s consumer base. Since its launch, Rizta has crossed the 1 lakh unit mark in retail sales within just one year, emerging as a cornerstone of Ather’s growth.

As of 1:49 PM IST on 19 June, shares of Ather Energy Ltd were trading at ₹317.50, down ₹6.20 or 1.92% from the previous close. The stock opened at ₹323.70 and touched an intraday high of ₹324.75 and a low of ₹315.50. The company’s current market capitalisation stands at ₹11,820 crore. Ather’s 52-week high is ₹343.00, while the 52-week low is ₹288.15.

Rizta Captures Family Segment, Boosts Sales Nationwide

Ather credits Rizta’s strong appeal with helping the brand penetrate beyond its core performance-focused audience. Now contributing to nearly 60% of the brand’s total sales, the Rizta has triggered a sales surge across various regions including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.

Owing to Rizta’s popularity, Ather has gained a substantial foothold in territories where its brand had limited visibility. This has enabled the company to expand into new cities and appeal to a broader family-oriented customer base.

Current Network and Regional Strategy

As of 31 March 2025, Ather operated 351 ECs within India and 24 additional centres in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Notably, 46% of these are concentrated in South India. Going forward, Ather plans to triple its store count in northern markets, while also strengthening its presence across eastern and western parts of the country.

Manufacturing Expansion to Support Retail Growth

To sustain this rapid retail growth, Ather is ramping up its manufacturing capabilities. Presently, it operates two facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu—one for vehicle assembly and the other for battery production. A third unit is under construction in Bidkin, AURIC (Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar), Maharashtra. Once operational, this plant is expected to raise the firm’s annual production capacity to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers.

Strong After-Sales and Charging Network Support

The retail expansion is also backed by the company’s growing after-sales and charging infrastructure. Ather Grid, now India’s largest fast-charging network for two-wheelers, comprises over 3,578 charging stations nationwide. Additionally, Ather is enhancing its service offerings through Gold Service Centres in major cities and Express Care services that promise maintenance in under 60 minutes.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, stated, “Rizta’s extraordinary acceptance has introduced Ather to new markets and family buyers who were previously out of reach. The surge in demand from areas with minimal prior presence underlines the importance of scaling swiftly. Our plan to establish 700 Experience Centres ensures that we are available wherever our customers are.”

With plans to introduce more budget-friendly models, Ather’s product and retail strategy is seen as ideal for rapid scaling.
