Mumbai, May 14: Shares of Bharti Airtel opened with strong momentum on Thursday at ₹1,820.00, as investors responded positively to the company’s quarterly results declared the previous evening after market hours. The stock surged swiftly in early trade, hitting a session high of ₹1,824.00 within the first few minutes, before pulling back to a low of ₹1,797.30 around 9:15 am as some profit booking set in.
Buyers, however, returned with conviction and the stock climbed steadily through the rest of the morning, trading around ₹1,827–1,829 by 9:50 am, reflecting broad market confidence in Airtel’s underlying business fundamentals. As the session continued, the stock held firm above the ₹1,820 mark, with the current price at ₹1,829.30, up ₹40.10 or 2.24% from its previous close of ₹1,789.20, with trading still under way.
The weekly chart reflects a sharp recovery after a rough few sessions. BHARTIARTL had been trading near ₹1,835 on May 7 and held those levels briefly through May 8 before a steep four-session decline dragged the stock down to around ₹1,757 by May 12 — a fall of roughly 4.3% from its weekly peak. Thursday’s strong rebound of over 2% marks a decisive turnaround from that trough, with the stock recovering a significant portion of the week’s losses as results-driven buying takes hold.
Financial Results Declared on Wednesday Evening
Bharti Airtel on Wednesday unveiled its latest financial results, offering a detailed snapshot of the company’s performance and growth trajectory for the recent period. Q4 Net profit: The telecom major saw its consolidated net profit drop to Rs 7,325 crore in the January–March quarter of FY26, down 33.5 percent from Rs 11,021.8 crore in the same period last year.
It delivered a strong set of consolidated quarterly numbers for Q4 FY26, with total revenues growing 16% year-on-year to about ₹55,383 crore from ₹47,886 crore in Q4 FY25, driven by continued subscriber additions and ARPU improvement across its India and Africa businesses.
Total income for the quarter rose in line with revenue growth, reflecting the company’s expanding scale across its telecom and digital services portfolio. EBITDA grew 17% year-on-year to roughly ₹32,038 crore in Q4 FY26 from ₹27,404 crore in Q4 FY25, with the EBITDA margin expanding marginally by 60 basis points to 57.8% from 57.2% in the year-ago quarter — a reflection of operating leverage and disciplined cost management even in an elevated energy cost environment.
Profit after tax before exceptional items surged 37% to about ₹9,172 crore from ₹6,702 crore in Q4 FY25. However, net income (net profit) after exceptional items declined 33.5% year-on-year to around ₹7,325 crore from ₹11,021 crore in Q4 FY25, as the year-ago quarter had benefited from large exceptional gains.
For the full year FY26, Airtel’s consolidated revenue grew 16% to approximately ₹2,10,972 crore from ₹1,81,511 crore in FY25, while annual EBITDA rose 15% to about ₹1,21,267 crore, though the EBITDA margin eased slightly by 40 basis points to 57.5% from 57.8% in FY25. Net income before exceptional items for the full year surged 51% to roughly ₹26,904 crore from ₹17,761 crore, while profit after tax before exceptional items grew 35% to about ₹34,028 crore, underlining the strength of Airtel’s underlying business momentum across markets.
