BHEL Wins ₹21,000 Crore EPC Contract From MUNPL

BHEL received a Notification of Award worth over ₹21,000 crore from MUNPL for the 3×800 MW Meja STPP Stage-II EPC package.

Mumbai, June 5: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said it received a Notification of Award (NOA) from Meja Urja Nigam Private Ltd (MUNPL) for the EPC package of the 3×800 MW Meja Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage-II in Uttar Pradesh. 

The company said in an exchange filing dated June 5, 2026, that the notification was received on June 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM. 

According to the disclosure, the order value exceeds ₹21,000 crore excluding GST. The project involves design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning works for the EPC package. 

BHEL said the contract was awarded through international competitive bidding. The completion of facilities under the EPC package is scheduled within 70 months from the date of the NOA. 

MUNPL is a joint venture between NTPC Ltd and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL). 

Stock Market Snapshot 

BHEL share price traded higher following the order announcement. 

The stock traded at ₹391.80 on the NSE, up 0.67% or ₹2.60 as of 12:41 PM IST on June 5, 2026, according to market data. 

The order win strengthened investor focus on BHEL’s execution pipeline and thermal power equipment business amid continuing capacity expansion initiatives in the domestic power sector.

Order Adds To Power Sector Execution Pipeline 

The Meja Stage-II project marks another large-scale thermal EPC contract for BHEL in the domestic market. 

The company continues to remain a key supplier of power generation equipment and infrastructure services across thermal, hydro, nuclear, transmission and industrial sectors in India.
