New Delhi, November 17, 2025India is making a significant push to strengthen its electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The government has approved 17 new projects under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), alongside a planned investment of ₹7,172 crore.

According to Monday’s announcement, these projects are expected to generate production worth ₹65,111 crore. The government continues to place strong emphasis on boosting the domestic output of high-value and high-quality electronic components.

Government Emphasizes Quality and Supply Chain Readiness

According to the Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the new proposals approved by the authorities mean that India is executing its vision to become the world’s hub for high-value electronics manufacturing. Vaishnaw said those firms that focus not only on strong design capabilities but also follow strictly six sigma quality standards and, at the same time, develop the in-country suppliers will be major contributors to India’s success. He also said that in the future, the quality standards will be at the very core of the selection of projects. On top of that, the minister indicated that a lot is being done to introduce a new framework that not only trains the workforce but also makes it capable of meeting the requirements of technologically advanced manufacturing.

Total Projects Rise to 24 Under ECMS

Moreover, owing to the approvals, the total number of projects to which the ECMS gave the go-ahead has risen to 24. Among the companies that have received the green light to proceed with their plans are: Jabil Circuit India, Aequs Consumer Products, Uno Minda, ASUX Safety Components India, Zetfab India, TE Connectivity India, and Meena Electrotech.

Categories and Geographical Spread

The newly approved projects envisage electronic core components including: camera modules, connectors, multi-layer printed circuit boards, oscillators, enclosures, and other high-value electronic components. For instance, the camera module manufacturing project is established in the state of Maharashtra, and the printed circuit boards manufacturing is set up in Karnataka. Helping in the geographical dispersion of the electronics manufacturing ecosystem. At the same time, the government’s move is in line with its overall strategy to provide the country with self-reliance on imports, strengthen supply chains, and make India a globally attractive manufacturing ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌destination.
