CESC Subsidiary to Invest ₹5,000 Crore in Renewable Energy and Solar Manufacturing

Kolkata, September 19, 2025 — CESC Green Power Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of CESC Limited, has unveiled plans to establish a large-scale renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem in India with a proposed investment of up to ₹5,000 crore.

CESC Limited of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group is a top power utility company based in Kolkata. It deals in power generation, transmission, and distribution to millions of consumers and is listed both on NSE and BSE.

Details of the Project

The project will be across different locations and will have a 3+ GW solar cell and module facility, a battery production facility, a 60 MW clean energy power plant, and additional ancillary units to deepen the clean energy value chain.

CESC Limited has made a total financial commitment to its subsidiary to facilitate the smooth execution of the project. This will include equity infusion, strategic direction, and arrangement of institutional funding to provide timely financial closure and implementation.

The project highlights CESC’s intentions in building its presence in India’s rapidly growing renewable energy space as well as supporting India’s clean energy transition objectives.
