Mumbai, June 11: Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices across India remained completely unchanged on Thursday, with every city in the national survey carrying forward Wednesday’s rates without revision for the third consecutive session. From New Delhi at the lower end of the pricing ladder to Chennai, Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura at the top, not a single city gas distribution company recorded a hike or a cut — extending a broad pricing freeze that has held firmly through the first half of June even as global energy markets have been rattled by fresh escalation in the Iran-United States conflict and a sharp rise in Brent crude above $95 a barrel.
New Delhi retained its position as the most affordable CNG market in the country at ₹83.09 per kg, served by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), with the NCR corridor maintaining its familiar tiered structure. Gurugram held at ₹88.12 per kg, while Noida and Ghaziabad each remained at ₹91.70 per kg — identical to Wednesday’s rates. Meerut held at ₹91.58 per kg and Sonipat at ₹92.50 per kg, preserving the price gradient that has characterised the NCR fringe through this extended run of stability. Mumbai, supplied by Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), continued at ₹86.00 per kg, unchanged since the ₹2 hike that took effect on June 1. Rewari held flat at ₹87.70 per kg.
The mid-range cluster saw no movement either, with Bangalore and Bharatpur both holding at ₹95.00 per kg and Dewas at ₹95.50 per kg. At the upper end of the national ladder, Chennai, Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura all remained at ₹97.00 per kg — the highest rates in the current dataset — unchanged from Wednesday.
The across-the-board freeze on Thursday reflects the established pricing rhythm of India’s city gas distribution companies, which typically review tariffs on a fortnightly-to-monthly schedule rather than responding to daily fluctuations in global crude benchmarks. That structural insulation from short-term volatility has kept domestic CNG pump prices stable even as Brent crude has surged on renewed Strait of Hormuz closure fears. The next pricing review window for most CGD entities is expected around June 15–16, the standard mid-month revision date, and any decision on rates will likely factor in the elevated crude environment sustained by the West Asia conflict.
