Mumbai, June 5: Compressed natural gas prices across Indian cities were largely unchanged on Friday, June 6, with all cities in the survey holding their rates steady from Thursday’s levels. Chennai, which had risen ₹1.00 to ₹96.00 on Thursday, remains at ₹96.00 on Friday — unchanged — continuing to sit one step below the highest CNG prices in the country. New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Rewari, Gurugram, Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad, Sonipat, Bharatpur, Dewas, Firozabad and Mathura all held their rates without revision, continuing the pattern of selective, city-specific movements that has characterised the domestic CNG pricing cycle in recent sessions.

New Delhi remains the most affordable market in the dataset at ₹83.09 per kg, unchanged across multiple sessions, benefiting from its status as one of the most competitive and heavily supplied CNG markets in the country. The broader NCR corridor, however, presents a tiered pricing picture: Gurugram holds at ₹88.12, while Noida and Ghaziabad — served by a different distribution entity — sit at ₹91.70, and Meerut holds at ₹91.58. This spread of ₹8.61 between Delhi and the outermost NCR markets, within what is effectively one contiguous urban belt, reflects the territory-based franchise model that governs city gas distribution in India, where each CGD entity sets prices independently based on its own cost and volume profile.

Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura remain at ₹97.00 per kg — the highest in the current dataset — followed by Chennai, Bangalore and Bharatpur in the ₹95.00–₹96.00 band, and Dewas at ₹95.50. Mumbai continues to hold at ₹86.00 per kg, suggesting its distribution company has, for now, absorbed upstream costs without passing them on. Rewari and Sonipat hold at ₹87.70 and ₹92.50 respectively, both unchanged from Thursday.

 Petrol and Diesel Prices

Petrol and diesel prices remained largely unchanged across major cities and state capitals on Friday. While Jaipur recorded the steepest increase in both petrol and diesel rates, Patna saw the sharpest decline. Fuel prices in key cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad were mostly unchanged or witnessed marginal adjustments, reflecting a relatively stable retail fuel environment despite recent fluctuations in global crude oil prices and currency movements. State-owned fuel retailers on May 25 raised petrol and diesel prices for the fourth time within a span of 10 days, as elevated crude oil prices continued to squeeze their marketing margins. Petrol rates were raised by ₹2.61 per litre, while diesel prices were increased by ₹2.71 per litre.
