Mumbai, July 2: CNG rates remained unchanged in all 15 cities monitored on Thursday, with no city gas distribution company announcing any revision for the fourth straight day.
With no changes made, New Delhi retained its position as the cheapest city to purchase CNG in at Rs 83.09 per kg. The national capital’s rates are more than Rs 2 lower than Mumbai (Rs 86.00 per kg) and Rs 8 cheaper than the rate charged in NCR satellite cities Noida and Ghaziabad, where Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) charges Rs 91.70 per kg.
Prices remaining static on Thursday marks the fourth consecutive day with no revisions made across any of the cities tracked, extending the longest stretch of unchanged CNG rates seen so far this month. Crude prices have stayed subdued through the week on hopes that talks between the U.S. and Iran could still be revived, even as Iran’s Foreign Ministry has repeatedly dismissed the possibility of engaging with the American delegation in Doha any time soon.
City gas distribution companies, which procure compressed natural gas from both domestic supply and spot markets, are likely to keep watching global gas price trends before deciding on any revision.
Gurugram and Rewari retain their rates at Rs 88.12 per kg and Rs 87.70 per kg, respectively. In neighbouring Meerut, CNG continues to be priced at Rs 91.50 per kg and Rs 94.00 per kg in Sonipat. Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mathura and Bharatpur remain stationed at Rs 97.00 per kg across southern and central India, with Dewas continuing to be the cheaper option at Rs 96.00 per kg. Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh remains the most expensive city on the tracker at Rs 98.00 per kg, a position it has held through the week.
With rates holding steady for a fourth straight session, the gap between the cheapest and costliest cities on the tracker stays unchanged at Rs 14.91, with New Delhi and Firozabad continuing to anchor the two ends of the pricing spectrum. The National Capital Region continues to display the widest internal spread among the cities tracked, with rates ranging from Rs 83.09 per kg in Delhi to Rs 94.00 per kg in Sonipat, a difference of nearly Rs 11 within the same broader metropolitan region.
As mentioned earlier, the above listed rates are indicative and may vary marginally depending on local taxes and the specific outlet. Consumers are advised to check with their nearest CNG station for the exact prevailing rate before refuelling. With no city recording even a marginal revision since Monday, the current cycle is now among the most stable stretches for CNG rates in recent months, even as retail petrol and diesel prices have seen periodic adjustments.
