Mumbai, July 3: CNG prices continued to be unchanged in all 15 cities in the nation on Friday, as no city gas distribution company decided to revise rates for the fifth consecutive day.
New Delhi continues to be the cheapest city to buy compressed natural gas at Rs 83.09 per kg, as prices were unaffected in the national capital. Rates in Delhi are over Rs 2 cheaper than prices in Mumbai (Rs 86.00/kg) and Rs 8 cheaper than what city gas distribution company Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) charges in NCR satellite cities Noida and Ghaziabad at Rs 91.70 per kg.
This is the fifth day in a row when prices have remained steady in all cities on the rollback tracker.
Oil prices have traded lower for most of the week on muted cues with a cautious optimism that an uneasy ceasefire is holding in the Middle East, which has been brushed with geopolitical tensions after Iran kicked off its 10-day period of national mourning following the death of Ayatollah Khomeini.
City gas distribution companies buy compressed natural gas from both domestic and spot markets to supply to their customers. They will likely keep a close watch on global movements in gas prices before contemplating a price revision of their own.
CNG rates in Gurugram and Rewari remain at Rs 88.12 per kg and Rs 87.70 per kg respectively. In neighbouring city Meerut, residents will have to pay Rs 91.50 per kg to fill up their CNG vehicles while fill-ups will cost Sonipat residents Rs 94.00 per kg.
Rates in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mathura and Bharatpur remain unchanged at Rs 97.00 per kg across southern and central India cities. Dewas has the cheapest prices in central India at Rs 96.00 per kg. In Uttar Pradesh, Firozabad is the costliest city to buy CNG at Rs 98.00 per kg on our tracker, as has been the case all through this week.
With gas prices continuing to remain unchanged for the fifth session in a row, the difference between the cheapest and costliest city to buy CNG remains at Rs 14.91, with New Delhi and Firozabad continuing to bookend the two extremes of the rollercoaster. The NCR continues to have the widest spread between cities with rates varying from Rs 83.09 per kg in Delhi to Rs 94.00 per kg in Sonipat.
As has been mentioned before, the prices mentioned here are indicative based on the publicly available data on the CGD companies websites. They are subject to change depending on your local area taxes and the CNG outlet you buy fuel from. Please refer to your local CNG station for the precise rate at which they are selling CNG before you refill.
