Mumbai, June 12: Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices across India held steady on Friday, with all cities in the national survey carrying forward Thursday’s rates without revision for the fourth consecutive session. From New Delhi at ₹83.09 per kg to Chennai, Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura at ₹97.00 per kg, no city gas distribution company recorded a hike or a reduction — extending a broad pricing freeze that has held firmly through the first two weeks of June.

New Delhi remained the most affordable CNG market in the country at ₹83.09 per kg, served by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), with the NCR corridor preserving its familiar tiered structure. Gurugram held at ₹88.12 per kg, while Noida and Ghaziabad each continued at ₹91.70 per kg — matching Thursday’s rates exactly. Meerut held at ₹91.58 per kg and Sonipat at ₹92.50 per kg, maintaining the price gradient that has characterised the NCR fringe through this extended freeze. Mumbai, supplied by Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), held at ₹86.00 per kg, unchanged since the ₹2 hike that took effect on June 1. Rewari stayed flat at ₹87.70 per kg.

The mid-range cluster saw no movement, with Bangalore and Bharatpur both holding at ₹95.00 per kg and Dewas at ₹95.50 per kg. At the upper end of the national ladder, Chennai, Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura all remained at ₹97.00 per kg — the highest rates in the current dataset.

The unbroken stability on Friday also comes against a backdrop of easing global energy prices. Petrol and diesel prices remained largely unchanged across metros and state capitals on Friday. While rates held steady in key markets such as New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, Patna recorded the steepest increase in both petrol and diesel prices, with marginal upticks also seen in Chennai, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram. Cities including Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru and Gurgaon posted slight declines, reflecting routine local adjustments.

Meanwhile, crude oil fell for a second straight session on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump cancelled planned military strikes on Iran. Brent crude dropped 1.7% to $88.81 a barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) slipped 1.6% to $86.31, with both benchmarks on course for weekly losses of more than 4%. The softening in crude, however, is unlikely to translate into an immediate CNG price cut, given that city gas distribution companies operate on fortnightly-to-monthly revision cycles. The next scheduled pricing window for most CGD entities falls around June 15–16.
