Mumbai, June 8: Compressed natural gas prices across all major Indian cities remained completely unchanged on Monday, June 8, extending a run of stability that has now held through the weekend and into the new week. Every city in the survey — from New Delhi and Mumbai to Chennai, Hyderabad and Mathura — carried forward Friday’s closing rates without revision, even as global energy markets turned volatile overnight following fresh Israeli strikes on Beirut and retaliatory Iranian missile fire that sent Brent crude surging past $95 a barrel.

The freeze in domestic CNG rates, even against this backdrop of international turbulence, reflects the deliberate pricing cycle of India’s city gas distribution companies, which typically review and revise tariffs on a fortnightly to monthly schedule rather than reacting to daily swings in global benchmarks. For the millions of CNG vehicle users across India, Monday brings no relief and no additional burden — the pump price remains exactly where it was on Friday.

The Pricing Ladder Holds

New Delhi continues to be the most affordable CNG market at ₹83.09 per kg, a rate served by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and unchanged across multiple consecutive sessions. The NCR corridor mirrors Delhi at ₹83.09, though rates step up as one moves further out — Meerut holds at ₹91.58 and Sonipat at ₹92.50 — a spread that reflects the territory-based franchise model governing city gas distribution, where each CGD entity sets prices independently.

Mumbai, supplied by Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), continues at ₹86.00 per kg, while Rewari stays at ₹87.70. In the mid-range, Bangalore and Bharatpur hold at ₹95.00 and Dewas at ₹95.50. At the top of the ladder, Chennai, Hyderabad, Firozabad and Mathura all remain at ₹97.00 per kg — the highest rates in the current dataset — with no movement from Friday’s close. Torrent Gas-served markets such as Bharatpur and Dewas also remain flat, consistent with the broader pricing pause seen across all distributors today.
