Kolkata, July 1, 2025 – Coal India Limited (NSE: COALINDIA, BSE: 533278) reported a decline in both coal production and offtake for June 2025 and the April–June 2025 quarter, as per provisional data released under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015.

The consolidated coal production for June 2025 stood at 57.8 million tonnes (MT), down 8.5% year-on-year from 63.1 MT in June 2024. Correspondingly, coal offtake during the month fell 7.4% YoY to 60.4 MT compared to 65.2 MT a year ago.

Quarter Highlights: Apr–Jun 2025 (Q1 FY26)

  • Production: CIL produced 183.3 MT coal, down 3.2% YoY from 189.3 MT.
  • Offtake: Total offtake was 190.1 MT versus 198.9 MT a year ago, marking a 4.5% decline.
  • Major laggards in Q1 production were CCL (-13.3%) and BCCL (-14.2%).
  • NEC recorded marginal production/offtake (0.1 MT), with YoY change skewed due to prior negligible base.

Management & Outlook

The report did not include management commentary, but the consistent dip in both production and dispatch across most subsidiaries indicates pressure on volume growth amid seasonal and operational challenges.

Coal India Limited shares closed at ₹389, a 0.64% dip on July 1, 2025. They have dipped 17% in the last year, gained 0.79% in the year-to-date, and dipped 2.56% in the previous month.
