Construction Output Of Euro Zone Down Y-O-Y By 1.1% In March

Construction output in Euro zone came down year-on-year (y-o-y) by 1.1% in March, 2025. In February this decline was 0.6%. Output in construction of buildings came down y-o-y by – 2.9% in March. In February, this decline was at -3.1%.
Civil Engineering output increased y-o-y by 0.8% in March. This was an improvement from -3.2% decline in February. Output in specialized construction activities increased y-o-y by 1%. This was again an improvement over the 0.6% decline in February.

On Month-On-Month Basis, Output In March Increased By 0.1%
On a month-on-month basis, construction output in March 2025 increased over that in February 2025 by 0.1%. Building construction saw a month-on-month increase of 0.9% in March. Specialized construction saw a month-on-month increase of 0.1%; civil engineering increased by 4.1%.
Construction output makes up a good part of the overall GDP. Therefore, increase in construction output, even marginally, may give a boost to GDP growth, and vice-versa. European Commission, only yesterday, downgraded its GDP growth forecast for European Union for 2025 to 1.1% from its earlier forecast of 1.5%.
