Mumbai, May 4: DCM Shriram Ltd has started renewable power injection from its wind-solar hybrid project at its Kota complex, the company said in an exchange filing on Monday.

The project, with a planned capacity of about 68 MW, is being implemented through a special purpose vehicle, JSW Renew Energy Thirty Two Ltd. It is designed to gradually replace around 40 MW of coal-based power currently used at the site.

The company said renewable power injection has started for part capacity, averaging about 15 MW, with more capacity expected to come online over time.

Stock Market Shareprice

The update was enough to push the stock higher during the session.

On May 4, 2026, DCM Shriram share price was trading at ₹1,247.00, up ₹19.50 or 1.59% from the previous close of ₹1,227.50. The stock opened at ₹1,232.30 and touched a high of ₹1,256.80, with a low of ₹1,203.70.

As of 2:43 PM IST, the stock held on to gains, suggesting a steady, rather than aggressive, positive reaction from investors.

Why This Matters Beyond The Headline

By moving from coal to a hybrid renewable setup, DCM Shriram is aiming to lower energy costs over time while also reducing its carbon footprint. For a company with energy-intensive businesses like chemicals and fertilisers, that can have a meaningful long-term impact.

The project is still ramping up, and the real gains will depend on how quickly the remaining capacity is commissioned and stabilised.

A Step In A Larger Transition

DCM Shriram has been gradually increasing its focus on renewable energy as part of a broader strategy to improve efficiency and sustainability.

The Kota complex plays a central role in its operations, so changes here tend to carry more weight than smaller, isolated projects.

If executed well, this transition could help the company manage input costs better—something investors tend to watch closely in cyclical sectors.

Bottom Line

The start of renewable power injection marks a clear operational milestone for DCM Shriram.

The stock’s rise reflects cautious optimism. Investors are acknowledging the direction, but the real impact will depend on how smoothly the project scales up and translates into cost savings over time.
