DOT Rewards Key 10-Year National VSAT-VNO License to Nelco; Satellite Services to Expand

Mumbai, June 17—Nelco Ltd (BSE: 504112, NSE: NELCO EQ) has been granted a key national-level telecom authorisation by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, under its existing Unified License Virtual Network Operator (UL-VNO) agreement. This will increase reselling capabilities and the company’s ability to address demand in rural, enterprise, defense, and government sectors.
Nelco’s stock opened in the green, after reaching a day’s high of ₹1161 before losing the momentum and tanking by 2.38% at 02:45 PM.
Strategic Telecom Authorisation Granted
The new authorisation enables Nelco to operate as a Virtual Network Operator for VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) services across India. This regulatory clearance was disclosed per Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, and aligns with the SEBI Master Circular SEBI/HO/CFD/PoD2/CIR/P/0155 dated November 11, 2024.

This new authorization positions Nelco to extend satellite-based communication services by enabling resellers such as regional ISPs and system integrators to distribute VSAT services under their brand without satellite infrastructure. The two-way benefits include providing broadband services to underserved areas and complementing land-based infrastructure (4 and 5G). The timing of this update is critical, as Starlink was recently reported to enter the Indian market to boost telecommunication infrastructure and connectivity.
