Mumbai, 9 July 2025: Eco Recycling Ltd has announced its next major step in strengthening India’s circular economy by setting up a dedicated mineral recovery facility. This strategic move will focus on extracting valuable materials from e-waste components such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), hard disk drives (HDDs), and lithium-ion batteries.

New Facility Set to Transform E-Waste into Strategic Resources

The upcoming mineral recovery unit will allow Eco Recycling to process complex e-waste and extract critical minerals vital for electronic manufacturing. These recovered materials will support Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme beneficiaries and enable exports, contributing to India’s foreign exchange earnings and reducing import dependence on essential raw materials.

Two Decades of Innovation Place Company at the Forefront of the E-Waste Sector

In a regulatory filing to BSE, Eco Recycling highlighted its pioneering efforts in e-waste management over the past 20 years. Recognised as India’s first formalised e-waste recycler, the company has introduced several industry-first solutions, including:

  • A pan-India reverse logistics network for door-to-door e-waste collection
  • Advanced refurbishment and remarketing facilities
  • Secure data sanitisation and destruction services
  • “Recycling on Wheels – SmartER,” a mobile unit for on-site e-waste processing

National Attention for Tech-Driven Initiatives Enhances Credibility

Eco Recycling’s digital platform, BookMyJunk, received a mention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Mann Ki Baat broadcast for its unique approach to e-waste collection. Meanwhile, the mobile recycling unit initiative was flagged off by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, highlighting its role in integrating informal waste workers into the formal recycling sector.

Mineral Recovery Strategy Aligned with Sustainable Manufacturing Vision

The new mineral recovery facility is part of Eco Recycling’s broader strategy to support green energy, electronics manufacturing, and self-reliant supply chains. The company believes that recovering materials from discarded electronics offers a sustainable path forward for resource management.

“Recycling is the future. So far, we’ve taken more than we’ve needed from the earth. It’s time to replenish and play the role of nature,” said Director Shashank Soni.

Certified Compliance and Environmental Accountability Strengthen Operations

Eco Recycling operates with approvals from both the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). The company is also certified under the R2:2013 Responsible Recycling™ framework, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally responsible practices and global compliance standards.

Driving Circular Economy and National Resource Security

With its guiding philosophy of “Nature Builds Nation,” Eco Recycling aims to create impact beyond business metrics. The upcoming mineral recovery unit reflects the firm’s resolve to build India’s capabilities in material recovery, reduce landfill dependency, and promote sustainable industrial practices across sectors.
