GAIL Becomes First Maharatna PSU to Go-Live with SAP S/4HANA Cloud via ‘RISE with SAP’

New Delhi, June 26, 2025 – GAIL (India) Limited (NSE: GAIL-EQ, BSE: 532155) has become the first Maharatna public sector undertaking to go live with “RISE with SAP – S/4HANA on Cloud,” marking a major digital transformation milestone in the PSU ecosystem.
Strategic Milestone Achieved Under Project ‘Navodaya’
The formal go-live ceremony was held on June 25, 2025, and led by Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, in the presence of GAIL’s top leadership including Shri R.K. Jain (Director – Finance), Shri Deepak Gupta (Director – Projects), Shri Ayush Gupta (Director – HR), Shri Sanjay Kumar (Director – Marketing), and Shri Rajeev Kumar Singhal (Director – BD). Shri Rajnesh Singh, Chief Vigilance Officer, also attended the event. Representing SAP India, Shri Manish Prasad, President & Managing Director, was present alongside senior executives.
Branded internally as “Navodaya,” the project involved a full migration from GAIL’s legacy ECC system to the next-gen SAP S/4HANA Cloud platform. The implementation was completed within a scheduled time of one year, despite the complexity involved in transitioning a PSU-scale enterprise system.
Commentary from Leadership
CMD Sandeep Kumar Gupta called the initiative “a strategic leap forward,” emphasizing that it would help GAIL “deliver even greater value to our customers, employees and stakeholders.”
Adding to this, Director (Finance) Shri R.K. Jain noted:
“This transition to a cloud-enabled intelligent ERP system is not about technology – it’s about building a stronger, smarter, and more agile enterprise.”
SAP India MD Shri Manish Prasad remarked:
