GIFT Nifty Indicates Flat Opening for the Indian Stock Market Today

Mumbai, November 19: The Indian stock market and all the included indices are expected to open on a flat note today, on November 19. This opening is indicated by Gift Nifty which is trading lower by 0.01%, or 1.5 points, at 25,957. Until now the index has traded within a range of 25,977.50 and 25,925.

Sensex and Nifty Ended Lower Yesterday

Yesterday, on November 18, both Sensex and Nifty ended their trading day in the red. The Sensex fell by 277.93 points (0.33%) to close at 84,673.02. Nifty 50 declined by 103.40 points (0.40%) to close at 25,910.05. The performance was driven by a fall in metal stocks as the possibility of a fed rate cut declined after a strong US dollar.

FIIs Turned Net Sellers While DIIs Net Buyers

Yesterday, on November 18, Foreign Institutional Investors turned net sellers and sold Indian equities worth ₹728.82 crore net. On the other hand, Domestic Institutional Investors bought Indian equities worth ₹6,156.83 crore net.

Global Market Signals

Overnight, US markets fell and ended their trading day in the red. The Dow Jones fell by 1.07%, S&P 500 by 0.83%, and the Nasdaq Composite fell by 1.21%. Asian markets have opened on a positive note today. The Nikkei Index jumped by 0.77%, Hang Seng Index by 0.03%, TOPIX by 0.75%, and JPX Nikkei Index 400 by 0.71%.

Commodities and Currency Highlights

Oil prices fell slightly by 0.25%. The Indian rupee jumped 0.05%, or 0.042 paise and was trading at 88.56 per US dollar. Gold prices fell to ₹1,25,325 per 10 grams.

Flat Opening Expected Today

As indicated by Gift Nifty, the Indian stock market is expected to open on a flat note today. FIIs turning net sellers, with US markets falling overnight are also factors that may add to the flat opening today. Investors will track Q2 earnings, institutional flows, and global signals for market cues today.
