Gold Takes a Breather After Last Week’s Rally
Gold prices have had a strong run over the past week.
The 24K rate stood at ₹14,422 per gram on August 1 and remained largely subdued through the first few days of the month. Prices then picked up pace, crossing ₹15,000 on August 6 and reaching ₹15,235 per gram by August 8.
Today’s decline brings some relief after that sharp move higher. However, the bigger picture is still positive, with 24K gold currently ₹775 per gram above its August 1 level.

What Will 10 Grams of 22K Gold Cost?
The gold rate is only one part of the final jewellery bill. Making charges and GST can push up the amount you actually pay.
At today’s 22K gold rate of ₹13,930 per gram, buying 10 grams with 12% making charges and 3% GST would work out approximately as follows:
| Component | Amount |
| Gold value | ₹1,39,300 |
| Making charges (12%) | ₹16,716 |
| GST (3%) | ₹4,680 |
| Estimated final amount | ₹1,60,696 |
The actual jewellery bill may vary depending on the design, jeweller and applicable making or wastage charges.

Since then, prices have remained around the ₹15,200 mark, suggesting that the market is taking a breather after the recent rally.

Why Do Gold Prices Change?
Gold prices in India are influenced by several factors, including international gold prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, interest-rate expectations, inflation, central-bank buying and global economic or geopolitical developments.
Because these factors can change quickly, domestic gold rates can move from one session to another even when local jewellery demand remains unchanged.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Bangalore slipped on August 10, with 24K gold falling ₹38 to ₹15,197 per gram and 22K gold declining ₹35 to ₹13,930 per gram.
Today’s correction comes after a strong run that pushed 24K gold to ₹15,235 per gram over the weekend. Even after the latest fall, prices remain 5.37% higher than at the start of August.
For now, gold appears to be cooling off after its recent rally. The next few sessions should give a clearer picture of whether prices can move back towards the recent high or settle into a period of consolidation.
