Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold rates don’t move only because of local jewellery demand. International gold prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, interest-rate expectations, inflation, central-bank buying and global geopolitical developments can all influence domestic prices.
That is why even a relatively quiet day can still bring a change in the retail gold rate.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Chennai edged lower on August 11, with 24K gold falling ₹1 to ₹15,217 per gram, while 22K and 18K gold also slipped by ₹1 per gram.
The decline is marginal, but it follows a stronger correction over the previous two sessions. Despite this, gold remains 5.23% higher than its August 1 level and is still close to the month’s high of ₹15,235 per gram.
For now, the market appears to be taking a breather after last week’s sharp rally. Whether prices make another move towards the recent high or settle at lower levels will depend on how the broader bullion market moves in the coming sessions.
