How Have Gold Prices Performed Over the Last 10 Days?
Gold has remained firm in Chennai over the past 10 days despite a few sessions of minor corrections. Prices dipped briefly on July 17 before recovering over the following sessions. The sharp jump on July 22 proved to be the turning point, with prices reaching fresh highs before stabilising on July 23.
The overall trend suggests that gold has maintained positive momentum during the second half of July, even though daily movements have varied in size.
Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Retail gold prices are revised every day to reflect movements in the bullion market. Changes in international gold prices, domestic demand, import costs, the rupee’s exchange rate and local taxes all influence the rates quoted by jewellers. As these factors change regularly, gold prices can move higher, lower or remain unchanged from one day to the next.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Chennai were little changed on July 23, with 24K gold at ₹14,652 per gram and 22K gold at ₹13,431 per gram after a marginal ₹1 increase. While today’s movement was subdued, prices remain on a firm footing after last week’s gains. Those planning to buy jewellery should keep in mind that the final purchase price will depend not only on the day’s gold rate but also on making charges, GST and other levies applied by individual jewellers.
