Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold prices in Chennai are linked to movements in the broader bullion market. International gold prices, the rupee’s value against the US dollar and import costs can all affect the rate paid by domestic buyers.
Interest-rate expectations, inflation, central bank demand and geopolitical developments can also influence bullion prices. Because these factors change regularly, local gold rates can move sharply on some days and remain almost unchanged on others.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Chennai were largely steady on July 28, with 24K gold edging up ₹1 to ₹14,587 per gram and 22K gold moving to ₹13,371. The 18K rate also increased ₹1 to ₹11,186 per gram.
Tuesday’s move is modest compared with the swings seen over the past week. Gold has recovered from the steep July 24 decline, but 24K prices remain ₹141 below the recent high of ₹14,728. Buyers tracking jewellery prices will now be watching whether rates consolidate around current levels or resume the stronger moves seen earlier in the month.
