Delhi, July 29: Gold prices in Delhi remained under pressure on Wednesday, extending the weakness seen in the previous session. Although today’s decline was relatively modest, bullion prices have now recorded back-to-back losses after last week’s rally lost momentum.

According to the latest retail rates, 24-karat gold is priced at ₹14,366 per gram, down ₹66 from Tuesday. The 22-karat rate has eased to ₹13,170 per gram, while 18-karat gold has slipped ₹50 to ₹10,778 per gram.

The latest move comes after Tuesday’s sharp correction, when 24K gold fell ₹172 in a single day. Together, the two sessions have shaved ₹238 off the benchmark gold rate.

18K Gold ₹10,778 -₹50

Gold Rally Loses Steam

Gold prices had climbed to ₹14,656 per gram on July 22 before entering a volatile phase.

After recovering to ₹14,604 on July 27, the market reversed sharply over the past two trading sessions. The combined decline has pulled 24K gold back to ₹14,366, leaving it ₹290 below last week’s peak.

While prices remain above the July 20 level, the recent correction suggests that bullish momentum has weakened in the short term.

Recent Gold Price Performance

Despite the recent volatility, the overall movement across the past 10 days has been surprisingly limited. Gold is trading only ₹5 above where it stood on July 20, highlighting how the latest correction has erased nearly all of last week’s gains.

Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?

Gold prices in Delhi are driven by a mix of international and domestic factors. Global bullion prices, fluctuations in the rupee against the US dollar and changes in import duties directly influence retail rates.

Inflation expectations, interest-rate outlook, central bank buying and geopolitical developments also play a key role in shaping market sentiment. Local taxes, transportation costs and jeweller-specific making charges can further affect the final price paid by consumers.

Conclusion

Gold prices in Delhi remained on the back foot on July 29, with 24K gold falling ₹66 to ₹14,366 per gram and 22K gold easing to ₹13,170. The decline follows Tuesday’s steep correction and marks the second straight day of losses.

While prices are still slightly above where they were 10 days ago, the recent slide has erased most of the gains from last week’s rally. Buyers may find the softer rates attractive, while investors will continue tracking global bullion prices and currency movements for fresh cues.
