Delhi, July 9: After three straight sessions of falling prices, gold finally caught a bit of a break on Thursday. The recovery was modest, but it was enough to halt the recent slide that followed the sharp rally seen at the beginning of July.

According to today’s retail rates, 24-karat gold is selling at ₹14,339 per gram, up ₹11 from Wednesday. 22-karat gold has increased by ₹10 to ₹13,145 per gram, while 18-karat gold is priced at ₹10,758 per gram, up ₹8.

If you were expecting another sharp move, today’s update may feel a little underwhelming—and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. After a week of big swings, the market appears to be settling down.

22K Gold ₹13,145 +₹10
18K Gold ₹10,758 +₹8

The Market Has Cooled Since Last Week’s Rally

The first few days of July were anything but quiet.

Gold prices shot up on July 2 and July 3, taking 24K gold to ₹14,715 per gram—the highest level seen this month. Buyers who waited even a couple of days would have noticed the difference.

But markets rarely move in one direction for long.

Since touching that high, prices have gradually eased as some of the early gains were given back. The declines weren’t steep enough to wipe out the month’s rally, but they were enough to make many buyers wonder whether gold had finally become a little more affordable.

Today’s rise doesn’t answer that question yet. It’s simply the first positive move after several sessions of weakness.

Even now, gold remains well above where it began July. Compared with July 1, 24K gold is still ₹246 per gram higher, while 22K gold has gained ₹225 per gram. That’s why many traders continue to describe the broader trend as positive despite the recent correction.

8 grams ₹1,14,712 ₹1,05,160 ₹86,064

How Much Would 10 Grams of 22K Jewellery Cost Today?

The gold rate you see quoted every day isn’t the amount you’ll actually pay at the jewellery store. Making charges, GST and, in some cases, wastage charges are added separately, pushing up the final bill. Based on today’s rates, 12% making charges and 3% GST, here’s an estimate.

Component Amount
Gold value ₹1,31,450
Making charges (12%) ₹15,774
GST (3%) ₹4,417
Estimated final amount ₹1,51,641

The final price can vary depending on the jeweller, the design you choose and the making charges applied.

10-Day Gold Price Trend

July 9: ₹14,339 (+₹11)

July 8: ₹14,328 (-₹213)

July 7: ₹14,541 (-₹136)

July 6: ₹14,677 (-₹11)

July 5: ₹14,688 (No change)

July 4: ₹14,688 (-₹27)

July 3: ₹14,715 (+₹322)

July 2: ₹14,393 (+₹300)

July 1: ₹14,093 (-₹126)

June 30: ₹14,219 (+₹11)

One thing becomes obvious when you look at the last ten days. The biggest action happened during the opening week of July. Since then, the market has mostly been moving in smaller steps rather than making dramatic jumps.

That’s often what happens after a strong rally—buyers slow down, traders lock in profits and prices begin to stabilise.

July Performance So Far

Particulars 24K Gold 22K Gold
July 1 Price ₹14,093 ₹12,920
July 9 Price ₹14,339 ₹13,145
Highest in July ₹14,715 (July 3) ₹13,490 (July 3)
Lowest in July ₹14,093 (July 1) ₹12,920 (July 1)
Monthly Trend +1.75% +1.74%

Although prices have eased from their July peak, they haven’t given back all of their gains. Gold is still trading nearly 2% higher than where it opened the month, suggesting that the overall trend remains intact.

Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?

Gold prices don’t depend on local demand alone.

International bullion prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, import duties, global economic uncertainty and central bank decisions all influence how much gold costs on any given day. That’s why prices can change even when footfall at jewellery stores remains largely unchanged.

Conclusion

Thursday’s uptick may not seem like much, but it comes after three consecutive days of declines and could indicate that the market is beginning to find some stability. Whether prices continue to recover or move sideways over the next few sessions remains to be seen. For now, buyers have a little more breathing room than they did during last week’s rally, but gold is still trading well above where it started the month.
