Gold prices in Kolkata inched lower on July 14, extending the correction that began after the early-July rally. The 24K gold rate slipped to ₹14,280 per gram, while 22K gold eased to ₹13,090 per gram, keeping bullion prices close to their lowest level of the month.

Kolkata, July 14: Gold prices remained on the back foot in Kolkata on Tuesday, with rates declining marginally across all major purity categories. While today’s fall was relatively small, it followed Monday’s sharp correction and indicates that the market is yet to regain the momentum seen during the first week of July.
According to today’s retail rates, 24-karat gold is trading at ₹14,280 per gram, down ₹11 from the previous session. 22-karat gold has slipped by ₹10 to ₹13,090 per gram, while 18-karat gold is priced at ₹10,710 per gram, lower by ₹8.
Although the decline is modest, prices have now stayed below last week’s highs for several sessions. Buyers who delayed their purchases during the rally are now getting a better opportunity as gold continues to trade at comparatively lower levels.

Gold Rally Has Lost Steam This Month
The first few days of July saw gold prices climb steadily as strong global cues supported bullion. In Kolkata, 24K gold touched ₹14,673 per gram on July 5, marking the highest level recorded this month.
However, the rally proved short-lived.
Since then, prices have steadily moved lower, with only a couple of sessions witnessing mild recoveries. Tuesday’s decline has pushed 24K gold to ₹14,280 per gram, nearly ₹393 below the month’s peak.

Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold prices are influenced by several domestic and global factors. International bullion prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, import costs, inflation expectations, central bank decisions and geopolitical developments all play an important role in determining daily retail gold rates.
That’s why prices can change even when local jewellery demand remains largely unchanged.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Kolkata extended their losing streak on Tuesday, with 24K gold falling to ₹14,280 per gram and 22K gold slipping to ₹13,090 per gram. The correction has erased much of the gains seen during the opening week of July, giving buyers an opportunity to purchase at lower rates than the month’s peak. Market participants will now watch global bullion prices and currency movements for cues on the next direction in gold.
