Gold prices in Kolkata remained largely unchanged on July 30, with rates slipping by just ₹1 per gram across all major purity categories. While the decline was marginal, prices continue to hover near their lowest levels of the past week after a broader correction in recent sessions.

Kolkata, July 30: Gold prices in Kolkata saw another quiet session on Thursday, with rates edging lower by ₹1 per gram across 24K, 22K and 18K categories. The modest decline follows a week of sharper corrections and suggests bullion prices are beginning to stabilize after recent volatility.
According to the latest retail rates, 24-karat gold is priced at ₹14,350 per gram, down ₹1 from Wednesday. 22-karat gold has slipped to ₹13,154 per gram, while 18-karat gold is trading at ₹10,762 per gram, also lower by ₹1.
Although today’s movement is negligible, gold remains well below the highs recorded last week, giving buyers a chance to purchase at relatively softer prices.

Recent Rally Gives Way to a Correction
Gold prices rallied strongly in the third week of July before peaking at ₹14,651 per gram on July 22. Since then, profit booking and softer international bullion prices have weighed on domestic rates.
At the current level, 24K gold is ₹301 per gram below the July 22 peak, reflecting the broader pullback over the past several trading sessions. However, the pace of decline has slowed considerably, with prices moving only ₹1 lower on Thursday.

The correction has brought gold back to its lowest level in more than a week, although the selling pressure has eased. Whether prices rebound from here will largely depend on international bullion trends and the movement of the rupee against the U.S. dollar.
Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold prices are influenced by a combination of domestic and global factors. International bullion prices, movements in the rupee against the U.S. dollar, import duties, inflation expectations and central bank policies all affect daily retail rates.
Geopolitical developments and demand for safe-haven assets can also move prices sharply. Local jewellery prices eventually reflect these broader market trends along with making charges and applicable taxes.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Kolkata remained almost flat on July 30, with 24K gold easing by just ₹1 to ₹14,350 per gram and 22K gold slipping to ₹13,154 per gram. Although the latest move was minimal, bullion continues to trade below last week’s highs after a broader correction.
With price declines slowing over the past two sessions, the market appears to be stabilizing. Investors and jewellery buyers will now be watching global gold prices and currency movements for the next major trigger.
